My boyfriend and I go to Indianapolis every year, usually Labor day weekend, for Drag racing Nationals. We have stayed at the Crowne Plaza in downtown Indie and have had very good times there. The Crowne Plaza is in the heart of downtown Indianapolis and located within walking distance of some great restaurants and shopping. If I'm not mistaken there's a Target very close by. The restaurants that we've enjoyed are McCormick & Schmick's and The Melting Pot-its not within walking distance but is well worth the drive. The restaurant in the hotel itself was nice also but I like to get out and see downtown and go an a carriage ride so only ate in the hotel once.
The drag race strip is located in Clermont,IN and is about a 30 minute drive from the hotel. You have to get there early if you want decent parking and the rates vary from $5-$20. Ticket prices for nationals also vary from $60-$200 depending on where your seat is. The food inside can be pretty pricey and you're not supposed to bring in any food. Be prepared to bring something for your ears or to buy ear protectors or you may go deaf from the top fuel dragsters! |
